What is Paint Protection Film (PPF), and how does it work?

PPF is a clear, urethane-based protective layer applied to a vehicle’s exterior. It acts as a shield against scratches, rock chips, and environmental damage. The film is designed to be self-healing, meaning minor surface scratches can disappear with heat from the sun or engine.

What advantages does PPF offer?

Applying Paint Protection Film provides several benefits, including:

  • Defense against road debris, scratches, and minor abrasions.

  • Protection against UV exposure, reducing the risk of fading or discoloration.

  • A self-healing top coat that repairs minor scratches over time.

  • Resistance to environmental contaminants and chemicals.

  • Helping maintain the car’s resale value by keeping the paint in top condition.

How is PPF applied to a vehicle?

PPF is professionally installed using a precise "wet application" method, similar to window tinting. A soap and water solution allows the film to be carefully positioned before being smoothed out with a squeegee to ensure a seamless fit. It can be applied to specific areas or cover the entire vehicle.

How long does Paint Protection Film last?

High-quality PPF is designed to be long-lasting, maintaining its durability and protective properties for years. The films we use come with a manufacturer’s limited warranty and are guaranteed to last at least 10 years.

What makes PPF self-healing?

PPF includes an advanced topcoat that protects the urethane layer from surface damage. This topcoat reacts to heat—whether from the sun, a warm car panel, engine heat, or warm water—allowing light scratches to fade away naturally.

How does PPF differ from ceramic coating?

Unlike ceramic coatings, PPF provides superior protection against rock chips, scratches, and abrasions. While ceramic coatings enhance gloss and repel contaminants, they do not have self-healing properties or provide impact resistance like PPF.

Will PPF change the look of my car?

When professionally installed, PPF is virtually invisible. It preserves the vehicle’s original color and finish while adding a layer of protection. The transparency of the film ensures a seamless blend with the paintwork, maintaining the car’s aesthetics.

How should I maintain PPF?

  • Wait at least three days after installation before washing your car.

  • Hand wash using a microfiber mitt, car wash soap, and water.

  • Avoid automatic car washes and high-pressure washers, as they can cause lifting.

  • Promptly remove staining substances like bird droppings.

  • For glossy finishes, apply a non-abrasive car wax once or twice a year to maintain appearance.
